Telangana BJP President K Laxman will start an indefinite fast at the party office on April 29 to protest against the "irregularities" in the Intermediate results and the "failure" of the State government.
This was informed by BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao at a press conference in the party office along with former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya.
Laxman's protest would continue until the government came up with a factual report, Rao said.
Rao also accused the State government of failing to conduct the Intermediate exams in a fool-proof manner, and charged it with not taking steps against the BIE officials and Globalrena which caused large-scale errors in the results that compelled about 20 students to end their lives.
"This State government is ignoring processes and rules, and has not responded to the results row or the suicides so far. It is also trying to protect those involved in the results fiasco. The people need to know who was behind the tender given to Globalrena," he said.
He also alleged that there was a bigger unseen force behind the episode. "Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy is Education Minister only in name, and has no powers," he said.
Dattatreya demanded stern action against Globarena and all others involved in the results lapses that led to suicides by the students. The committee report was not accurate, and the BJP would take up protests until the facts came out, he said. He appealed to the people to support the BJP's protests from Monday and to press the government for action.
