As usual, girls outshone boys in the first and second year Intermediate examinations, the results for which were announced on Friday.
Releasing the results at the Board of Intermediate Education premises, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said that the results of both the first year and the second year Intermediate examinations were being released at the same time this year. He said that students of the Ranga Reddy district stood first in both the first and second year examinations.
With 59% of them passing in the first year and 67.64% in the second year examinations, girls outshone boys, 48% of whom passed in the first year examinations and 58.11% in the second year examinations. Also, government colleges outperformed private colleges in the results.
Hyderabad stood first in the first year results with 56% of students passing, and Khammam topped the second year results with 62% of students passing.
The first year exams pass percentage on the whole was 53.32, with 2,43,503 candidates passing out of 4,56,675 that appeared. The second year exams saw 62.71% of students passing, with 2,62,245 qualifying out of the 4,18,231 candidates that appeared. Compared to the last academic year, the first year pass percentage was lower by 2, and the second year pass percentage higher by 1.5.
Srihari informed that the colleges concerned would get the marks memoranda on April 26. The Board will conduct supplementary examinations from May 24 to 31, and April 30 will be the last date for the payment of the fees for the examinations as well as for seeking recounting.
