The Telangana government on Tuesday issued orders sanctioning the payment of a "Chief Minister's Special Incentive" to certain categories of employees for the month of April.
In recognition of the services of the health, medical, sanitary, police and other related-field employees who are handling the Covid-19 relief operations in the state the government has decided to offer a monetary incentive as a token of appreciation and as encouragement.
As per the orders issued by the Principal Secretary (Finance) K Ramakrishna Rao, regular, contract and outsourced personnel of the medical and health department will get 10% of their gross salary as an additional incentive.
All police personnel under the administrative control of the home department whose salaries are being drawn under the major head of accounts will also receive 10% of their gross salary as an additional incentive.
All regular and outsourced sanitation workers of the GHMC will get Rs 7,500 per head, and linemen and sewerage workers of the HMWS&SB will also receive Rs 7,500.
The sanitation workers of all the municipal corporations and municipalities other than the GHMC, and regular and outsourced sanitary-cum-multi-purpose workers of the various gram panchayats, will receive Rs 5,000.
However the incentive will be paid only to those employees and persons who actually attended to duties during April 2020, and not to those who were on leave, suspension or unauthorized absence.
The orders further say that the expenditure towards the incentives will be met from the release made by the government for Covid-19 operations.
