Hundreds of TSRTC employees of the state, primarily drivers, have received shockingly low salaries for June.
Some drivers of the Bhadrachalam depot reportedly got paltry salaries of below Rs 100 - some getting as low as Rs 7 - for June against their expectations of a full salary after getting only 50% salaries for three months starting March.
The reason given apparently was that they were not needed to work since there have been lesser than normal bus services after the lockdown began in March.
The drivers were repeatedly turned back despite reporting to work, and then marked absent. And if they did not have enough casual leaves to make up for the "absences", they lost pay.
Many drivers of other depots including Sangareddy, Medchal and Mehdipatnam also saw huge salary cuts.
The employees expressed pain at salary amounts like Rs 7, Rs 77, Rs 99, Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000 for June, when their normal salaries are upwards of Rs 20,000.
Employees unions are reportedly planning to take up another movement for the salaries.
TSRTC has about 49,000 employees and many of them do not have much work now due to the coronavirus mayhem - bus services in Hyderabad, for example, have yet to resume after the lockdown was imposed in March.
