A 500-km-long human chain was formed for the cause of separate statehood for Telangana, from Adilabad to Alampur in Mahabubnagar on the Kurnool border. Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak, Rangareddy, Hyderabad and Mahabubnagar were covered in the chain.

The Telangana JAC had announced the formation of the human chain in its daily schedule of protests.

JAC convenor Professor Kodandaram, TRS leader N Narsimha Reddy and TDP leader P Srinivas Reddy participated in the chain at Tank Bund.

News of the Telangana committee broke during the formation of the chain. Kodandaram said the JAC would react to the announcement only after the terms of reference were declared.
