The Telangana High Court today gave permission to the State unit of the BJP to hold a public meeting at the Hanamkonda Arts College on August 27, Saturday.
The meeting is being held to mark the conclusion of the third phase of the ongoing Praja Sangrama Yatra of Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
The party leaders had approached the High Court following the denial of permission by the Principal of the Arts College to hold the meeting citing that the local police did not allow the organization of the meeting.
The BJP leaders filed a lunch motion petition and urged the HC to permit them to hold the meeting. The HC heard the arguments of the BJP leaders and the State government on the issue, and passed the orders.
During the proceedings, the Advocate General told the HC that the Principal of the college had declined permission citing the conduct of exams. The AG also told the HC that the college had only one entrance, and that the organization of the meeting would cause a lot of inconvenience to the students of the college. However, the HC decided to grant permission.
The national president of the BJP J P Nadda will participate in the public meeting as the chief guest. Newly appointed State in-charge of the BJP Sunil Bansal will also take part. It will be the maiden visit of Bansal to the State. He will land in the city on Saturday evening at the Shamshabad international airport and leave for Hanamkonda directly.
Bansal was appointed as the party in-charge of the State recently. He will also act as the in-charge of the party units of West Bengal and Odisha.
