Hyderabad | 2nd June 2010
Activists of the Telangana Lecturers Forum and Telangana Jagruti met the secretary of the Board Of Intermediate Education (BIE), Balaramaiah, on Wednesday. They demanded the revaluation of answer sheets of over 4,000 Intermediate students, and also demanded action against the evaluators after discrepancies were allegedly being noticed in the final marks given to the examinees.
The delegation which met Balaramaiah included Telangana Jagruti president Kavita, Telangana JAC convenor Prof. Kodandaram, and Telangana Lecturers Forum president Katti Venkataswamy.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, the 3 leaders said that their demands included the furnishing of complete details of the 4,000 students; as well as strict and immediate action against the 2,000 evaluators who were "partial, biased, negligent, ignorant and careless" in evaluation of the examination papers.
Another demand included reducing the fee for revaluation of answer sheets to Rs. 200, down from the existing Rs. 600.
The protestors said that in future the BIE should not select evaluators from other regions to scrutinise answer sheets of Telangana students. They also demanded postponing of counselling of the EAMCET qualifiers.
Balaramaiah said that he would have to talk to the ministers concerned and apprise them of the protestors' demands. The agitating members then said that they themselves would meet the ministers concerned, and if needed, meet the Chief Minister over the issue.
