Telangana Governor and the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has resigned from both the posts, and her resignation has been sent to President Draupadi Murmu's office.
According to a press communique issued by the Raj Bhavan Press Secretary, Soundararajan has tendered her resignation with immediate effect.
Soundararajan was sworn in as Telangana's second Governor in November 2019, and was given additional charge as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in February 2021.
Her resignation comes on the same day as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public address at Jagital in Telangana.
She is said to be planning to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on behalf of the BJP. It is being reported that she might contest for either the Thoothukudi seat or the Chennai Central seat in Tamil Nadu.
