The Telangana Government was reprimanded by the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday when it sought six months' time to hold the elections for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Advocate General K Ramakrishna Reddy told the High Court that the state needed time till November to complete the process of delimitation of the number of GHMC divisions from the present 150 to 200.
Not convinced with the state government's contention, the High Court said that if the state government was unable to conduct the elections, then it would ask the State Election Commission or the Central Election Commission to hold the polls.
The High Court asked the government file its counter, and adjourned the next hearing to April 20. (INN)
