Government Allows Theatres To Hike Ticket Prices

The Telangana government today took a decision to allow a hike in the prices of tickets in cinema theatres across the state.

The Telangana government today took a decision to allow a hike in the prices of tickets in cinema theatres across the state.

Following appeals by film producers for a hike in the prices of tickets in the state, officials submitted a report to the government, which took a decision allowing a hike in ticket prices, as also for the levying of GST and theatre maintenance charges as well.

The minimum ticket price has been set at Rs 50, and the maximum at Rs 300, with the band depending on the type of theatres (AC/non-AC, single-screen / multiplex etc.).

AC theatres will have a minimum price of Rs 50 and a maximum of Rs 150, plus GST.

In multiplexes, the prices will be Rs 100 to Rs 250, plus GST.

Single-screen theatres with special recliner seats can charge upto Rs 200 plus GST for them, and multiplexes, Rs 300 plus GST.

The government also gave permission to theatres to charge Rs 5 in AC theatres and Rs 3 in non-AC theatres towards maintenance charges, additionally.

Online payment charges may be charged separately.
