Telangana's Low Corona Testing Appalling: Congress
The Congress alleged that the Telangana government was steadfastly refusing to follow the advice of the opposition parties to conduct much more testing.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy today alleged that the state government was behaving in a unilateral manner on the issue of conducting Covid-19 tests.
He said that the state government was steadfastly refusing to follow the advice of the opposition parties to conduct much more testing.
He alleged that the state government was acting in a negligent manner on the issues of the ongoing lockdown, the coronavirus prevention measures and the problems being faced by the farmers of the state, too.
He made these remarks after submitting a representation to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on the issues at Raj Bhavan along with his party leaders.
In his representation, he urged the Governor to take steps to come to the rescue of the farmers who had incurred huge losses due to the recent untimely rains, issue orders to the state government to take more steps to help the migrant workers of the state, and take steps to help those who had lost their employment due to the ongoing lockdown.
Addressing the media later, Reddy said that the Congress leaders had had a lengthy discussions with the Governor on the failure of the state government to conduct more coronavirus tests. He asked the government why it was not conducting the tests despite having adequate capacity and infrastructure, and said that the attitude of the government on the issue was unscientific. He demanded that the CM immediately reveal the details of the number of tests being conducted by his government as per the ICMR guidelines.
He also alleged that the government was hiding the number of deaths due to the coronavirus, and asked the government why it gave orders that coronavirus tests not be conducted on dead bodies.
Reddy demanded that the state government make ex-gratia payments to the family members of the coronavirus victims. He also demanded the government give Rs 5,000 to all BPL families of the state.
