Revanth Reddy on Sunday said that his government accorded high priority to the Muslims and was making every effort to ensure their progress by allocating a significant share to them in every welfare and development program implemented by the State.
The Chief Minister participated in an Iftar party organised by the State government at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium. On the occasion, he expressed hope that the holy month of Ramadan would promote harmony and brotherhood in society.
He said that his government belonged to all the people, including the Muslim community. "I am your brother. Let us all work together to take Hyderabad and Telangana forward," he said, and added that the blessings of the people were essential for the government.
The Chief Minister said that hundreds of Muslim youth were securing educational and employment opportunities today due to the 4% reservation policy for minorities introduced by the Congress government. He added that the government was also extending support through integrated hostels.
Referring to the war-like situations prevailing across the globe, he cautioned the gathering that attempts might be made to create discord in India. He urged people not to fall prey to such attempts and instead work together to make Telangana a leader in development in the country.
He affirmed that the government would stand firmly with the Muslims and extend full support to them. As examples of its commitment, he cited inducting Mohammad Azharuddin into the Cabinet, appointing Mohammed Ali Shabbir as a government advisor, appointing eight Muslims as chairpersons of various corporations, and felicitating sportspersons Mohammed Siraj and Nikhat Zareen.
MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, ministers, MLAs and many others attended the Iftar gathering.
