In a tragic incident, five members of a family died when the hut they were staying in collapsed due to the heavy rains that lashed the state on Saturday.
The incident took place in Kothapally village of Aija mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district.
According to the details revealed by the local police, who reached the spot and took up the rescue operation, the victims were sleeping in the hut when the incident took place.
The police said that the wall of the hut fell on the victims, killing them on the spot.
The victims have been identified as Shantamma, Charan, Teja, Mosha and Ramu.
Two children of the family - Sneha and Chinna - escaped from the accident with injuries. They were rushed to the Kurnool government hospital for treatment in a 108 vehicle.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed shock at the tragic incident, and said that the government would offer Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia for each of the deceased.
