Five labourers were killed in a crane mishap at Regamanagadda of Kollapur mandal of Nagarkurnool district.
The incident took place after a wire of the crane snapped while the labourers were going into the pumphouse using the crane.
One more labourer was critically injured in the incident.
The pumphouse is part of the Palamuru Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme.
The project authorities shifted the bodies to the mortuary of Osmania General Hospital (OGH). A team of forensic experts of the hospital led by Dr Abhijeet conducted post mortems on the dead bodies.
The victims have been identified as Bholenath, Praveen, Kamalesh, Sonu Kumar and Srinu, and some of them hail from Jharkhand and Bihar.
The tragic incident took place in the package-1 works of the Palamuru - Ranga Reddy project.
TPCC chief Revanth Reddy expressed his deep condolences over the untimely demise of the victims, and demanded that the State government pay compensation to the family members of the victims.
He also demanded that the State government take stern action against the persons responsible for the incident.
State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar also condoled the deaths of the victims, and demanded that the State government take stern action against those responsible for the incident.
