Telangana Farmers Will Get MSP: CM
Responding to the pleas of hapless farmers, the Chief Minister deployed 10 senior IAS officers to Telangana districts to ensure that the farmers get MSP.
Responding to the pleas of hapless farmers across the state, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy held a ministerial meeting on Wednesday, wherein it was decided that 10 senior IAS officers would be deployed to the Telangana districts to ensure that the farmers get Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce.
Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the officials concerned to crackdown upon grain purchasing centres and severely punish all those who were purchasing grains below the MSP.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu informed the media that 1,209 grain purchasing centres were set up across the state to buy the Rabi paddy grains from the farmers.
Sridhar also assured the public that the purchase centres of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) would be closely monitored.
The CM said that the grain purchase centres run by women self help groups (SHGs) under the Indira Kranti Pathakam would also be examined to ensure that produce is bought at the prescribed MSP.
This comes as a relief to the farmers who have camped outside purchasing centres in a bid to sell their grains and fear that the unseasonal rains will spoil their produce.
