Arrest Those Cheating Farmers Of MSP

Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Monday called for the arrest of those not giving the farmers of the state the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their paddy.

Backing Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, the MLC stated that there were irregularities in the acquiring of paddy grains at the grain purchase centres across the state despite the measures being taken by the CM to ensure that the farmers get the MSP for their produce.

He also condemned the malpractices being indulged in while calculating the moisture content of the paddy grains prior to purchasing them. He explained that 100gms of grain had to be loaded into the grain moisture meters to get an accurate measurement of the moisture content, but that upto 200gms were being loaded into the meter as sample.

He said that this resulted in the erroneous measurement of grain moisture, and that the millers were paying the farmers upto Rs. 400 lesser than the MSP, citing moisture content.

He said that KKR was indeed making efforts to clear the existing paddy in godowns to make space for the Rabi produce, and called for stringent action against all those denying the farmers the MSP for their paddy grains.
