Employees' Unions Demand Larger Wage Hike

Several employees' associations today demanded that the TRS government sanction a 45% pay hike.
Hyderabad | 28th January 2021
Opposing the 7.5% wage hike recommended by the Telangana Pay Revision Commission (PRC), the PRTU and various other employees associations today demanded that the government agree to sanction a 45% hike at the earliest, instead.

The associations' members met with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to express their disapproval of the PRC report, and demanded that their call for a 45% pay rise be addressed immediately.

They also made other demands, and discussed various other issues, including the reduction of the housing rent allowance, at the meeting.

Speaking to the media later, they deplored the "unfair" PRC report, and said the time spent on the report was as good as wasted since the proposals it made did not address the employees' needs.

"We expect Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to take a call on our demands at the earliest. He should understand that the PRC report is deeply anti-employee, and re-examine its proposals. It is of critical importance that he does so immediately as the next PRC will only be held after five years now. The CM must also increase the wage hike percentage now itself," the employees said.

The government employees, clearly left disappointed by the PRC's recommendations, had held demonstrations at the BRKR Bhavan and the Pragathi Bhavan to protest against the same yesterday.
