Deputy CLP leader in the Telangana Assembly T Jeevan Reddy on Tuesday threatened to approach the Governor or the Election Commission of India seeking disqualification of the rebel legislators of the Congress Party.
Speaking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Reddy said that Assembly Speaker S Madhusudan Chary and Council Chairman Swamy Goud could disqualify the rebel legislators as per Schedule 10, Para (3), of the Constitution.
However, he alleged that they were delaying the decision on the disqualification.
He said that he would approach Governor E S L Narasimhan or lodge a complaint with the ECI if the Speaker and Chairman failed to take any action.
Jeevan Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was trying to break the Opposition Parties, which was against the spirit of democracy.
He said that if KCR wanted to increase his strength in the Assembly, then he should ask the rebels of other Parties to first quit their posts and then join his Party, and then get them elected on the TRS symbol. (INN)
