Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi only to convert his black money into accountable wealth.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday after a meeting with Party leaders, Reddy slammed the Chief Minister for meeting Modi at a time when the economy of the nation was in "ruins" due to the move to demonetize the two currency bills.
The BJP had gotten defensive when the Congress questioned it on the ban and the effects of its aftermath on the people, he said.
He fumed at KCR for "going soft" and for supposedly not dwelling much over questions related to the ban and the mitigation of the problem.
People were facing lots of hardships due to the ban, he said. He blamed Modi the deaths that allegedly occurred after the victims stood for too long outside banks and hospitals, and added that the Congress party would take up dharnas and agitations against the move. He alleged that KCR, instead of tending to people's problems during the tough time, was busy moving into a lavish mansion.
He called upon the Congress cadre to assist people standing in long queues outside banks and ATMs.
