Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party would waive off farmer loans amounting to Rs 2 lakhs if it came to power in the 2019 elections.
Speaking along with some Pulichintala farmers after the TPCC - Kisan Keth Mazdoor Congress executive meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, Reddy said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was neglecting the farmers intentionally. The Chief Minister knew everything about the problems of the farmers, but was behaving carelessly, he claimed.
Alleging specifically that the TRS government was showing fake love for the Pulichintala farmers, Reddy asked it if it didn't have Rs. 150 crores to give the farmers.
Reddy said that it was atrocious for the government to not to give money to the farmers saying that the reason was that the Andhra government had not given it to them. He alleged that the same government however still had money to give contractors.
Kisan Keth Mazdoor Congress chairman M Kodanda Reddy, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi and others were present.
