Saying that the Congress was not against the Comprehensive Land Survey being undertaken by the TRS government, Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy today faulted the TRS for criticizing his party on that ground when the Congress was only demanding an all-party meeting to discuss the subject.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Ponguleti alleged that the ruling party was using the land survey to benefit itself. Stating that 70% of farmers who had committed suicides were tenant farmers, he said that the previous Congress government had given cards to 4.5 lakh tenant farmers in united Andhra Pradesh under the A P Land Cultivator Act. The then UPA government had also spent Rs 70,000 crores for the welfare of the farmers. KCR however was unable to match any of this, and was hence resorting to slandering his critics with false allegations, he said.
He asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to stop spending all his time on criticizing the opposition and instead take steps to control the fever outbreaks in the state, and take up the Bayyaram steel plant and Polavaram project redesign issues with the Centre.
