Congress Lambasts KCR For "Plundering" Telangana

Senior Congress Mohammad Ali Shabbir today accused Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family of "plundering" the resources of Telangana.
Hyderabad | 15th June 2021
Senior Congress leader and former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir today accused Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family of "plundering" the resources of Telangana.

Addressing a press conference at the Kamareddy DCC office, Shabbir Ali strongly condemned the TRS government for its controversial proposal to sell off government lands to raise Rs 20,000 crore in the next few days.

"The TRS government has already pushed Telangana into a huge debt crisis by borrowing more than Rs 4 lakh crore in the last seven years. If we include the loans taken by various corporations, then the overall debts amount to nearly Rs 5 lakh crore. Presently, the government is not in a position to either repay the loans or their interest. Instead of taking corrective measures, CM KCR wants to sell off government lands to further aid the ostentatious spendings of his government," he alleged.

The leader also said, "The sale of government lands will have a negative impact on the overall developmental process in the future. No land will be available for the construction of educational institutions, hospitals or any other public infrastructure facilities if government properties are sold off. KCR has manipulated figures to make false claims about Telangana being the richest state in the country. His government even showed loans as revenue to depict high growth figures. But now the situation has worsened to such an extent that the government is selling away its lands to pay its employees and manage other expenses."

Speaking about the CM's proposed visit to Kamareddy, for the inauguration of the district collectorate building, Shabbir Ali thundered, "The CM is coming to Kamareddy after a gap of two-and-a-half years. His last visit was made during elections. While he was here, KCR made several promises to the people. Since he is coming to Kamareddy after such a long time, he should ensure that all the promises which he had made in the past are fulfilled."

He then demanded that the CM sanction one medical college and a super-speciality hospital for the district, and that he sanction Rs 200 crore for the completion of the pending works of the Kaleshwaram irrigation project which would bring irrigation water to the district and its neighbouring areas.

The leader further demanded that the CM, during his proposed visit, sanction double bedroom houses to journalists and a degree college in Domakonda, and that he issue new ration cards to all the eligible applicants.

An irate Shabbir Ali then claimed that the previous Congress government had sanctioned Packages 21, 22 and 23 in 2007 as part of the Pranahita Chevella project but that the TRS regime had kept those works pending after having converted them into the Kaleshwaram project.

Earlier today, the leader had visited the residences of people who passed away recently and expressed his condolences to their families.
