Yesterday the CM hosted a dinner for Congress MLAs and MLCs, a move which is being seen as a state-level attempt to mellow down Telangana supporters in the party. Already, Telangana Congress MLAs have displayed their defiance of the JAC by refusing to put in their resignations in protest against the Sri Krishna Committee's ToR. And yesterday, when the TDP staged a walkout from the Assembly on the same issue, no Telangana Congress MLA came out in support of the move.
Congress MLA Damodar Reddy, who is in Delhi as the party high command had summoned him and 2 other legislators, has said it was improper for the CM to host a dinner when the situation in the state was so volatile.
Other Congress leaders certainly seem to differ on the issue, as there are opinions that Prof Kodandaram, the JAC convenor, is behaving like a TRS spokesperson, and that KCR was imposing his views on the JAC. There is also ire at the attacks and stone-pelting on Congress leaders, including one on Sridhar Babu's convoy in Warangal last week.
Now, the Congress seems to have completely quit the all-party JAC. Telangana politicians from the party, however, are keen to press the government for allocation of funds for the region. They have made it clear that they will not disrupt the legislature's proceedings.
