Senior Congress leaders from Telangana region on Monday demanded an unconditional apology from the 16 ministers from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, for their alleged 'traitor' remarks made during their representations to the Srikrishna Committee.
The demand of an apology came after senior leaders K Yadav Reddy, Palvai Govardhan, Kamalakar Rao, Indrasena Reddy and G Niranjan met at former home minister K Jana Reddy's residence on Monday to discuss their strategy and future course of action on the Telangana issue.
The meeting assumes importance after the alleged 'anti-national' remarks made by the Seemandhra ministers have stirred up a hornets' nest, raising demands for their sacking, from all pro-Telangana quarters.
The senior Congress leaders from Telangana asked the Seemandhra leaders not to test the patience of the region's people by making such inflammatory statements. They said the ministers' statements are not suitable, especially since they hold responsible posts and represent people across Andhra Pradesh.
They said they would convene a meeting on August 14 to chalk out a strategy on the future course of action.
