Even as Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana continue their efforts of trying to get party Legislators to do a rethink on their
decision, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy on Sunday categorically said that there is no change in the decision by elected representatives of the Congress party from Telangana to submit their resignations on July 4.
"We will submit our resignations as per the schedule announced earlier, between 11am and 12 noon on Monday to Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar," Jana Reddy told media persons after emerging out of a meeting with Telangana leaders at his residence.
The Panchayat Raj Minister emphasised that the Congress leaders from Telangana have decided to resign from their elected posts but not from the party.
"We will continue our fight for Telangana by staying in the party," Jana Reddy said.
Before proceeding to the Speaker's Chambers on Monday, the Congress Legislators are scheduled to meet one more time at Jana Reddy's residence.
Speaking separately to the media, MPs Ponnam Prabhakar and K Kesava Rao stated that they would submit resignations to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Hamid Ansari respectively, on Monday in New Delhi.
The leaders were speaking after attending a meeting at MP G Vivek's residence, where Ponnam said that the Telangana Congress MPs would pay tributes to those who laid down their lives for the cause of separate statehood at the Martyrs' Memorial at Gun Park, and then proceed to New Delhi.
They said they would appeal to the Congress High Command to stand by the statement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram 9 December 2009, and make efforts towards the formation of a Telangana state.
MP Komatireddy Rajagopal said that the people of the region would teach a fitting lesson to those who fail to resign to their posts for the cause of a separate state. (INN)
