Congress leader Palle Ravi Kumar and his wife and Chandur MPP Kalyani joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi today in the presence of IT minister K T Rama Rao.
Ravi Kumar, a journalist by profession, was among those who had tried to get the Congress ticket for the Munugodu by-election.
As recently as on Friday, Ravi Kumar had taken part in a rally taken out in Chandur in connection with the filing of nomination papers by the Congress candidate Palvai Sravanthi. He accompanied PCC president Revanth Reddy, who had campaigned in support of Sravanthi in Munugodu, throughout the day.
Then on Saturday, both Ravi Kumar and his wife came to Hyderabad and joined the ruling party.
Minister for Excise Srinivas Goud, MLA Jeevan Reddy, party senior leaders Karne Prabhakar and Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, and former GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Kumar said that he and his wife had joined the TRS unconditionally, and that they would strive hard for the victory of the party in the by-election.
