The Telangana Legislative Council witnessed an uproar on the alleged leakage of the EAMCET paper.
Raising the issue, Leader of the Opposition and Congress MLC Mohammad Ali Shabbir wanted to know about the progress of the probe and the number of persons involved in the case and the arrests made so far.
Shabbir Ali alleged that the State government was insincere in conducting the probe and sought to know why the main accused was not arrested yet. He demanded that the government handover the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation, and demanded stern action against those involved in the scam.
Replying to the question raised by Shabbir Ali, Education Minister Kadiam Srihari said that the government had already ordered an inquiry after news of the leak had surfaced in a Telugu newspaper. The case was handed over to the Telangana Criminal Investigation Department, and so far 49 of the accused were arrested in connection with the case.
Besides, the investigating agency also seized Rs. 2.8 crores, he said adding that more arrests were likely to happen.
The Education Minister also stated that there was leakage of the EAMCET 2010 and 2012 question papers, too. He alleged that the same scamsters were also involved in the 2016 case.
The Congress members however were not satisfied with the his reply, and boycotted the House.
