TPCC president and MP Revanth Reddy today said that the budget presented by union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman was a major disappointment, and that huge injustice was done to Telangana.
He said that promises like a steel factory in Bayyaram, a railway factory in Kazipet and national statuses for irrigation projects mentioned in the bifurcation act had all been ignored in the budget.
He also said that there was no mention of the ITIR project promised by the Congress in the past.
"During the 2019 elections, Prime Minister Modi promised to double the income of farmers by 2022 and construct houses for every poor person. During the 2014 elections, he promised to provide 2 crore jobs every year. None of these promises has been fulfilled," he said.
Reddy mentioned that 18 crore jobs should have been provided in the last 9 years of Modi governments considering the promise of two crore jobs every year. He recalled that in response to a question asked by him in the last parliamentary session, it was stated that there were 22 crore applications and 7 lakh jobs offered, and that that statement by the union government revealed that Modi had completely failed in creating jobs and employment.
He also said that it wasn't the income of the farmers that had doubled, but their input costs.
Reddy said that the NDA government was least bothered about the poor. "The Congress is completely condemning this budget presented by Nirmala Sitharaman," he said.
He also alleged that both the BJP and the BRS were responsible for the injustice done to Telangana in the budget.
