KCR Reviews Power Situation

Power officials told the Telangana CM they were buying 4 to 5 Million Units (MU) from power exchanges daily to overcome the deficiency of 800 MW.
Hyderabad | 26th February 2015
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao reviewed the power situation with Principal Secretary (Energy) Aravind Kumar and Telangana GENCO Chairman D Prabhakar Rao at the Secretariat here on Thursday morning.

The officers told the Chief Minister that they were buying 4 to 5 Million Units (MU) from power exchanges daily to overcome the deficiency of about 800 MW.

The Chief Minister asked them to explore the possibilities of obtaining power from the Eastern Power Grid from Kayamkulum in Kerala. He said that whatever be the rate, they should ensure that agriculture and industry were not affected in the state.

The officers apprised the Chief Minister that with short term and long term plans they were able to improve the power situation, and that it was unlikely that situation would affect agriculture and industry.

The Chief Minister also told the officers to explore the possibilities of improving the situation through solar power.

KCR also reviewed the progress of the Damarcherla power plant. (INN)
