Telangana Celebrates Ambedkar Jayanthi

Telangana on Thursday saluted the architect of the Indian Constitution Dr Ambedkar, on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary.

Telangana on Thursday saluted the architect of the Indian Constitution Dr Ambedkar, on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary.

In the capital city of Hyderabad, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao visited the Dr Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund and offered floral tributes. A large number of Ambedkar followers also thronged the Tank Bund statue to offer their respects to Father of the Constitution. They included Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, MP V Hanumatha Rao, power minister Jagadish Reddy, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader K Jana Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Telangana TDP president L Ramana, Revanth Reddy, Mothkupally Narsimhulu and Ravula Chandrashekar Reddy, and other leaders and citizens.

Offering tributes to Ambedkar at his statue on the Assembly premises were Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, Council Chairman K Swamy Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Government Chief Whip Koppula Eshwar and some legislators. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders all recalled the services of Dr Ambedkar to the nation.

The KCR government made special arrangements for the occasion to be celebrated on a grand scale across the State. The districts all wore festive looks with flowers and flags adorning all key junctions.

In the Medak district, irrigation minister T Harish Rao garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar at the Sangareddy bus-stand crossroads and paid tributes. MP B B Patil, MLA Chinta Prabhakar, Zilla Parishad chairman Rajamani Murali Yadav, District Collector Ronald Ross and others were present. Assembly Deputy Speaker Padma Devendar Reddy offered floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar in the Medak district headquarters.

Finance minister Etela Rajendar garlanded the Dr Ambedkar statue at the Huzurabad crossroads in the Karimnagar district and recalled his services to the oppressed people of the country. In the Adilabad district headquarters, forest minister Jogu Ramanna garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar in the town. Celebrations were also organized at Malapally under the Vemnuru mandal in the Khammam district - roads & buildings minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao participated in the function and paid respects to Dr Ambedkar.

In the Mahabubnagar district, health minister Cherlakola Lakshma Reddy paid tributes at the statue of Dr Ambedkar at Burugupally in the Jadcherla mandal. Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that the TRS government was committed to the welfare of the downtrodden sections in the society which was the goal of the departed statesman.
