The Business Advisory Committee of the Telangana legislature today decided to conduct the Budget session of Assembly for 16 days till March 29 (there will be five holidays during the period).
Chaired by Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, the BAC meeting in the presence of Leader of the House K Chandrasekhar Rao decided to conduct the session for only 16 days as against the previous decision to conduct it for 18 working days.
As per the BAC, the budget session will continue to meet on March 12 and 13 to discuss the Motion Of Thanks to the Governor's address to the joint session of the legislature. Finance Minister Etela Rajender will then present the Budget to the House on March 14.
It was decided that a break would be given on March 15 enabling the members to go through the details of the proposals and the allocations. The House will function as usual on the rest of the days except on March 23, 24 and 25. March 23 is Holi, and the BAC decided to give holidays for three days continuously from then till March 25 (Good Friday).
The BAC may meet on March 29 to decide whether to continue the session for another two to three days.
Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Legislature Affairs Minister T Harish Rao, Congress floor leader K Jana Reddy, Chinna Reddy, BJP floor leader Dr K Laxman, MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, Left parties' leaders Ravindra Kumar and S Rajaiah, YSR Congress leader P Venkateswarlu and Telugu Desam Party (TS) leader S Venkata Veeraiah were among those who attended the BAC meeting.
