Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today promised the establishment of a Brahmin corporation for the welfare of poor Brahmins in place of the present Brahmin Parishad, if the BJP was voted to power in the State in 2023.
Interacting with representatives of the community who submitted him a petition listing out their grievances at his padayatra camp at Kundaram village of Nellutla mandal in Jangaon district, Bandi expressed regret over the plight of the poor Brahmins who were protecting the Hindu dharma.
"The BJP is committed to safeguarding the Sanathana Dharma and Hindu traditions. It is unfortunate that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who often claims that Telangana is a rich State, doesn't bother about paying salaries to poor priests of Hindu temples," he said.
He said that even when temple priests faced starvation, they always offered naivedyam (food offering) to the gods.
"However, though the Chief Minister pays honoraria to the imams of masjids, he is not interested in paying Rs 6,000 per month to poor Brahmin priests," Bandi lamented.
He said that it was unfortunate that even Brahmins were forced to beg on the streets, as was being witnessed in the Chikkadpally area. They were also suffering from health issues due to chemicals in the camphor and dhoop sticks, he said. The BJP would ensure that they got treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, and also extend all possible other benefits like health cards and double-bedroom houses to Brahmins, too, he promised.
"We will also give party tickets to Brahmins in whichever Assembly segments they have chances of winning. You should be among the people and reach out to them. We will see that Brahmins also get politically empowered," he said.
Sanjay also promised to see that there would be a Vedic school in every district apart from a Vedic university at the state-level. He also pointed out that the Narendra Modi government had brought in reservations for the Economically Weaker Sections, which would help poor Brahmins get education and employment benefits.
Stating that the Telangana government was showing a lot of discrimination against Hindus, Bandi said that the TRS government readily gave permission to mosques but not to temples, and imposed several restrictions on Ganesh pandals but not on Ramzan festivities.
He demanded that the government should give respect to the Hindus just as it was doing to other religions. Alleging that the ruling party and the government were trying to create a wedge among different communities, he said that the BJP would strongly stand by the Brahmins.
"We shall bury all the anti-Hindu forces," he asserted.
