In an embarrassment to the Centre, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, on Thursday, rejected the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganization Bill 2013. The Bill has now been sent back to the President for reconsideration.
A majority of the MLAs in the AP Assembly supported the resolution of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy rejecting the Bill to the create a separate Telangana state.
The House was adjourned sine die after the Bill was rejected.
Now, it is upto the President to clear the Bill for discussion in the Parliament in the upcoming session that starts on February 5.
Earlier, Kiran Kumar Reddy had asked for a period of 3 more weeks for discussions on the Telangana Bill. He was backed by 57 legislators.
