The proceedings of the state Legislative Council were paralysed on Monday, with the Telangana legislators holding a protest demanding the rejection of the notice served by Endowments Minister C Ramachandraiah on the State Reorganisation Bill.
Telangana MLCs across party lines stalled the proceedings, demanding that chairman Dr. A Chakrapani reject the notice serviced by Ramanchandraiah, leader of the House in the Council, seeking a resolution in the Council to reject the Telangana Bill.
Amid a din, the chairman adjourned the House for half-an-hour. Later, some ministers from the Telangana region called on the chairman with the same demand.
The House could not function, following protests by Telangana legislators, led by minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, over the issue. After adjourning the House for another half-an-hour, the chairman then adjourned it for the day, following no signs of restoration of normalcy in the House. (INN)
