Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Convenor Prof. Kodandaram on Tuesday stated that the schedule of the non-cooperation movement had been modified with some changes.
Talking to media persons, Kodandaram said the proposed laying siege of National Highway No. 9 on February 19th had been postponed. The new date would be announced later, he stated.
The highway was to be blockaded to build pressure on the government to take a concrete decision and introduce the Telangana bill in the budget session of the Parliament.
Prof. Kodandaram said that the picketing of NH-9 was postponed following appeal made by Yadava community members to celebrate their Peddagattu Jatra in Nalgonda district.
The other agitational programs announced as part of agitation would continue as per schedule, the Telangana leader stated. He sought the cooperation of all parties in the non-cooperation agitation.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Congress MLAs and MLCs in New Delhi are mounting pressure on the Congress Core Committee to introduce the Telangana bill in the Parliament.
"Telangana is important for us. Until the Centre gives a clear and concrete assurance on the bill, we will not leave New Delhi," the Congress leaders said.
