While the city braces for a 48-hours Telangana bandh tomorrow, various Telangana leaders are letting their demands known to the state government.
Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Convenor Prof. Kodandaram demanded the immediate release of all students who were arrested while participating in the Chalo Assembly protest earlier in the day.
Prof. Kodandaram pointed out that as many as 40 students were in police custody after being arrested near the Assembly premises while they were protesting to support the demand of a resolution in the state Assembly over the Telangana bill.
Talking to media persons at JAC Office at Adarshnagar in the city, the TPJAC convenor demanded immediate release of all 40 students and warned of serious consequences if the government fails to act.
He appealed to all sections of people to participate in the bandh called for Tuesday and Wednesday, and make it a grand success.
"The situation would not have reached this level if the government had acted swiftly on Telangana state formation issue," he stated.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Floor Leader Etala Rajender, too, urged all the people of Telangana to participate in the bandh.
He thanked the Telangana non-gazetted officers for extending their support to the bandh.
Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner A K Khan is putting up stringent security measures to tackle any untoward incident during the next two days.
