TS Auto Drivers To Protest For Ola Managers' Arrest
The drivers will hold a protest meeting on Feb 28 seeking the arrests for Ola fixing its autos' fare at Rs 7.25 per km, below the Rs 11 fixed by the government.
The Telangana Auto Drivers' JAC today said that it would hold a protest meeting at Basheerbagh on February 28 demanding the arrest of the Ola management for fixing its autos' fare at Rs 29 for 4 km - i. e. Rs 7.25 per km - as against the Rs 11 per km fixed by the State government.
The JAC is demanding the fixing of Ola and Uber cab rates by the government according to extant rules, and prohibition of collection of extra fares from travelers in the name of "surge pricing".
The meeting will chalk out a course of agitation for the arrest of Ola's management among other things.
The TADJAC also demanded that the State government share 50% of the autos' third party insurance charges to help the poor auto drivers, a withdrawal of the "heavy" increase in the RTA fees, and a total ban on diesel-run cabs in the twin cities.
The TADJAC leaders appealed to the auto drivers in the twin cities to participate in the protest meeting in large numbers and make it a success.
