The Telangana Assembly today honoured various recently-deceased legislators of the state, including Nomula Narasimhaiah, Nayini Narasimha Reddy, Gunda Mallesh, K Madhusudhan Rao, Katta Venkatnarasaiah, Dugyala Srinivasa Rao, Chengal Baganna and K Veera Reddy.
Moving the condolence motion on the second day of the Budget session, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao mourned the passing of the aforementioned legislators, and praised them for their tireless service to the people of Telangana.
Of late Nagarjuna Sagar MLA Nomula Narasimhaiah, who breathed his last after suffering a heart attack last year, the CM said that the leader would be remembered for his work to uplift the weaker sections of society in his constituency.
He then offered flowers to a picture of the deceased leader.
Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and the rest of the members of the Assembly, including IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao and Assembly Affairs Minister V Prashanth Reddy, also paid their tributes to the departed leaders. The house extended its condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families. They all maintained two minutes of silence in honour of the former legislators.
The house was then adjourned till tomorrow, March 17.
During the upcoming session, thanks will be offered to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan for her
opening address (delivered yesterday). The state budget for 2021-22 will be unveiled in the Assembly on the following day, March 18.
