Telangana Assembly Extends By Six More Days
The ruling Party extended the winter session of the Legislative Assembly by six more days, and the House will continue from January 3 to 11.
Hyderabad | 30th December 2016
Apparently annoyed with the frequent boycotts by Opposition parties, the ruling Party today extended the winter session of the Legislative Assembly by six more days. The House will continue from January 3 to 11 and work for six working days.
As per the BAC's decision, the House will continue to hold the session on January 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 11. The decision to extend the House is probably to pacify the Congress from going aggressive while seeking its voice to be heard in the session. The House was extended by a week followed by a meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC) held after the House was adjourned. It is likely that the BAC will meet again on January 11, to further extend the House to discuss some key issues.
It is only possible if Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, at the behest of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, extends the House for a few more days. It is pertinent to say that all the Opposition parties including the Congress, the TDP and the CPI boycotted the House on Thursday, and the Congress did it again by abstaining from the House on Friday.
Congress senior leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy told media persons that they were boycotting the House on Friday as the treasury benches had failed to give them a chance to speak on the Land Acquisition Act.
Madhusudhana Chary chaired the BAC meeting attended by KCR, Finance Minister E Rajender, Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, BJP leader G Kishen Reddy, MIM leader Akbaruddin and CPM's S Rajaiah.
The House will discuss about fisheries on January 3, fees reimbursement on January 4, Singareni issue on January 5, and SC and ST issues on January 6.
