Assembly Adopts Resolution Seeking Bharat Ratna For P V Narasimha Rao
The Telangana Assembly today adopted a unanimous resolution urging the conferment of the Bharat Ratna upon the former Prime Minister.

The Telangana Assembly today adopted a unanimous resolution urging the conferment of the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of Inda, upon the former Prime Minister of the country P V Narasimha Rao.
The Chief Minister of the state and the Leader of the House K Chandrashekar Rao introduced the resolution in the house on the issue.
Speaking to the occasion, he said that Narasimha Rao was responsible for the introduction of landmark economic reforms to the country.
KCR said that Narasimha Rao had become the PM of the country when it was going through rough times, and had taken several daring decisions to help the country turn the corner.
He also said that Narasimha Rao had launched land reforms in the country, and that he had surrendered his own 800 acres to the government in the process.
He was also into literature and had translated into English the Telugu version of Veyipadagalu of author Viswanatha Satyanarayana.
Terming Narasimha Rao a beloved son of Telangana, he said that the state government was holding the centenary birthday celebrations of the former PM to honour his memory in a worthy manner, and urged the Centre to do the same, too.
As part of that, the CM demanded that the Centre name the Hyderabad Central University after Narasimha Rao to honour the ex-PM, and also that the Centre set up Narasimha Rao's statue in Parliament.
CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka termed Narasimha Rao a versatile leader, and said that on behalf of his party he was extending support to the resolution introduced by the state government urging Bharat Ratna for the former PM.
The Assembly then passed a unanimous resolution seeking that the Centre accord the award to Narasimha Rao.
