Hyderabad | 29th May 2025
The Telangana Finance Department today announced its approval of the proposal submitted by the Women and Child Welfare Department for increase of retirement benefits for Anganwadi teachers and helpers in the State.
A government order will be issued soon.
Going forward, retiring Anganwadi teachers will receive Rs 2 lakh, while helpers will receive Rs 1 lakh.
Currently there are over 37,580 Anganwadi centres across Telangana, employing approximately 70,000 staff, with each centre having one teacher and one helper.
The current retirement age is 65 years, and an average of 7,000 individuals retire each year. Teachers receive retirement benefits of only Rs 1 lakh as of now, and helpers get Rs 50,000. However, in line with an election commitment, the Congress government has decided to increase these retirement benefits.
Although the file had been delayed for some time due to technical issues, Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka recently met Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who also oversees the Finance Department, and secured the necessary approvals. As a result, the Finance Department has now cleared the relevant file, and the government order pertaining to this matter will be issued shortly.
This decision will provide financial support to numerous families.
Anganwadi teachers and helpers expressed their appreciation to Seethakka for her visit to Bhadradri Kothagudem district as part of her official duties, and conveyed their gratitude for her efforts in getting processed the file related to the increase in retirement benefits.
