Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw today briefed the media on the highlights of the 2024 budget.
The interim budget, which includes allocations to the railways, was presented on the floor of the Parliament today.
In his remarks, Vaishnaw spoke of the allocations for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Of the allocation of Rs 2,52,000 crore for railways for 2024-25 he said that Telangana had been been sanctioned a whopping Rs 5,071 crore.
Vaishnaw claimed that there had been a consistent increase in the funds allocation to Telangana in successive Budgets in recent times. He also said that 142 km of track was being laid across Telangana every year compared to just 70 km per year during 2009-2014.
He also said that 414 RoBs & RuBs had been constructed in the last ten years in the State, and that 40 railway stations in Telangana were being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat station scheme.
The minister also said that 45 One Station One Product stalls had been set up at railway stations across the State to promote local products.
