The Telangana Government is hoping to double software exports from the State by encouraging IT companies through a new policy and other incentives.
Software exports from the State were nearly Rs 57,000 crores during 2013-14, and the Telangana Government wants them to touch Rs 1.20 lakh crores during 2014-15.
The State Government also wants to create nearly 20 lakh direct and indirect jobs through the IT sector. Currently, the IT sector has provided direct employment to 3,23,691 people in the State.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao said that these targets would be achieved through the new IT policy which would be announced in the third week of December.
He said that the new policy, which would offer several sops for the industry, would turn Hyderabad into the most attractive IT destination in the country.
He said that the government would facilitate single-window clearances of all proposals, and provide the required infrastructure without any glitches.
The minister said that the new IT policy would link technical education with industry to ensure that students got recruited immediately upon the completion of their education. (INN)
