The decision by the union government to bifurcate the Hyderabad High Court has brought cheer to the advocates of Telangana. They celebrated the momentous event by distributing sweets in all the courts in the state.
In the High Court, the advocates celebrated the event recalling their struggle over the last four and half years for the purpose. Commenting on the issue, senior advocate and Telangana State Bar Council member Vishnuvardhan Reddy expressed elation at their hard work to get a separate High Court finally bearing fruit. He said that the decision of the Centre would benefit some 20,000 advocates in the state. He said that the bifurcation would also help the existing judges of the state get timely promotions and practising advocates get elevated to judges. And two High Courts in place of one would also lead to disposal of pending cases expeditiously, he added.
Noting that there would be some minor problems relating to the transfers of cases due to the bifurcation, he said that they would extend all necessary cooperation to their AP counterparts.
Meanwhile, advocates from Andhra Pradesh staged a protest on the premises of the High Court against the decision of the Centre, as they and the employees of the High Court belonging to AP will need to shift to the AP capital within a couple of days. They demanded an immediate intervention by the High Court registry into the issue.
