Railway police on Wednesday arrested about 25 pro-Telangana activists for obstructing the AP Express heading towards New Delhi at Secunderabad railway station.
The obstruction by the activists delayed the onward journey of the train to New Delhi by about 10 minutes.
The pro-Telangana activists, under the banner of Telangana Students Joint Action Committee, had earlier made their way to the Secunderabad station in the morning hours and stopped the train by squatting on the tracks.
The activists raised 'Jai Telangana' slogans and demanded that the Centre immediately introduce a Telangana statehood bill in the Parliament without further delay.
However, the railway police arrived on the scene and told the activists to move away from the tracks. The pro-Telangana activists, however, refused to do so. This led to an argument between the 2 groups, and heated verbal exchanges followed.
The railway police then took about 25 activists into custody and moved them to the police station.
The train was then allowed to proceed on its onward journey.
