Talks held today with striking employees of the 108 medical service resulted in a breakthrough as Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy promised to resolve their demands.
The minister held talks with the 108 employees association and sought two months to take all possible steps to address their just demands.
Talking to reporters later, he said that the government would constitute a committee of six members to look into the demands of the EMRI association that offers health services through 108. The minister also announced that the government would consider the demand of paying salary for the strike period.
The government had discussed the issues with GVK, Lakshma Reddy said.
"We had talks in a conducive atmosphere and the results were fruitful," the minister declared.
Later, the association leaders also declared that they were calling off their strike as the minister had given them an assurance on their demands.
"We will resume duties without any further delay," the association said. (NSS)
