In a major development after the division of districts in the State, the Revenue Department of the Government Of Telangana has seen a phenomenal growth of 31% in net revenue generation.
As an outcome, a record GDP growth rate of 31.21% has been achieved in net revenue in the State during the first six months in the current fiscal year 2016-2017. Briefing on the reasons behind the growth and detailing the facts and figures, Principal Secretary S Narsing Rao, stated that as against the net revenue achieved in the previous fiscal year (Rs. 1,475 crores), this year saw Rs. 1,935.30 crores added to the government's treasury.
The month-wise growth rate and net revenue are, which are mainly of sales and purchase transactions of lands and buildings, are: 27.92% (Rs. 306 crores in April 2016); 44% (Rs. 370 crores in May 2016); 40.20% (Rs. 310 crores in June 2016); 28.51% (Rs. 310 crores in July 2016); 31.51% (Rs. 329. 16 crores in August 2016); and 31.21% (Rs. 310.15 crores in September 2016).
The corresponding growth rates of other Southern States are far behind Telangana,. with AP at 12.27%, Karnataka at 2.31%, Kerala at 3.57% and Tamil Nadu at minus 2.63%.
Erstwhile district-wise figures for the first six months are: Medak at 47.94%, Adilabad at 38.09%, Hyderabad at 36.12%, Ranga Reddy at 33.51%, Mahabubnagar at 32.30%, Warangal at 27.25%, Karimnagar at 22.62%, Nizamabad at 21.74% and Nalgonda at 6.99%.
