The South Zone of the Hyderabad City Police on Sunday began investigation into the death of an intermediate student who was killed in a "friendly" fist fight with another teenager.
Although the incident took place on May 3, it came to light only on May 10 after the victim's father watched the fight video filmed by the boy's friends with their mobile phones.
The deceased, Nabeel Ahmed Dastagir, was a student living at Zehra Nagar near Mir Chowk. His father, Ghulam Dastagir, who works in a Gulf country, returned home after learning about his son's death. He was shocked to see the video of the "friendly" fight which killed his son. He immediately approached the Mir Chowk Police Station on Thursday and lodged a complaint.
"It is not clear what prompted them to start a fight, but Nabeel and his friend, a juvenile, exchanged blows during the fight. After few seconds Nabeel collapsed on the ground," South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana said.
He informed that a case of suspicious death had been registered and that further action would be taken after conducting a post-mortem.
The boy was buried at a graveyard in Barkas, and his body will be exhumed on Monday for post-mortem in the presence of a team of forensic experts of Osmania General Hospital.
The police have reportedly taken seven juveniles into custody for interrogation. (INN)
