After Telangana Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy's statement on November 15 that the Bhadradri power plant would be commissioned by March 2017 without hurdles, TDP Telangana Working President A Revanth Reddy on November 16 dared the Telangana government for an open debate on the power plant project, alleging that it was a huge scam.
Speaking during a farmers' demonstration near Balem village in the Suryapet district, he refuted Jagadish Reddy's claims that there was no corruption in the construction of the power plant, and said that he was ready to expose in excruciating detail, all the technicalities of the scam including going ahead with the project despite not having the required environmental clearance and bribing their way through power purchase agreements from AP Discoms.
He also slammed the energy minister's claim that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu would deliberately not sell power to Telangana even if meant violating the AP Reorganization Act of 2013.
In what looked like an attempt at winning over farmers, Revanth Reddy took a detour from the topic and said that KCR spent Rs. 4.50 lakh crores for the development of the State but failed to waive Rs. 17,000 crores of farmers' loans.
