TDP Leader Kesineni Swetha Quits Party & Corporator Post
Swetha is the daughter of senior TDP leader and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani, who himself had said a couple of days back that he too would resign from the TDP.
TDP leader Kesineni Swetha has resigned from the party.
She left both her corporator post and the party.
She submitted her resignation letter to Vijayawada Mayor Bhagyalakshmi.
Swetha is the daughter of senior TDP leader Kesineni Nani, who himself had said a couple of days back that he would resign as the Vijayawada MP in a few days and shortly thereafter also resign from the TDP.
Speaking with media persons on the occasion, Swetha said, "I have resigned as the corporator of Vijayawada's eleventh division. I will also resign from the TDP once the resignation is accepted. We never wanted to leave the TDP. But it is not right for us to continue in the party when the party itself doesn't want us. We cannot work where there is no respect."
Swetha claimed that Nani had been facing insults in the TDP for the last one year. "We were under the illusion that the TDP high command was not aware of what was happening in Krishna district till now. Three leaders in Vijayawada troubled us during the municipal elections. We have had enough and are now going out. Those who come with us from the party will definitely stand by us. Lokesh asked what the connection was between the Thiruvarur Sabha and Kesineni Nani. It is proof of his intelligence," she said.
Swetha said that Nani would talk to the party workers and announce the future course of action, and that Nani and she would continue to fight on behalf of the people of the State. She added that Nani would be contesting from the Vijayawada parliamentary constituency for the third time.
With the two resignations, the TDP has received a big shock. And the politics in Vijayawada have become hot in the wake of the resignations.
